Tiffany Studios New York "Wisteria" Table Lamp

This exceedingly rare white "Wisteria" table lamp is composed of a pastel palette of glass wisteria blossoms in shades of cream, green, and lilac that cascade down the shade to an irregular border. The blossoms are surrounded by abundant leaves in varying shades of green and are delicately interspersed with “confetti” glass, lending them added three-dimensionality. The shade has a latticework top, portraying the branches and vines of a wisteria tree. The base designed specifically to hold the shade is also endowed with vegetal, vine-like properties.

Among the rarest, and certainly among, if not the, most sought-after of Louis Comfort Tiffany's creations, the "Wisteria" Lamp is a staple of Tiffany Studios New York texts and exhibitions worldwide. This particular example can be further celebrated for the great depth and dimensionality of its coloring, which complement such features as the irregular border and the open latticework top.
