Artfully strung together by a naturalistic, raised leaded bronze branches, the white apple blossom blooms have bright yellow centers, matching the vibrancy of the coloration found in the accompanying spear shaped leaves. A background that mimics dappled light is achieved by an inclusion of special glass panels, designed by Tiffany to create an alluring atmospheric effect. The custom Pony Tree base, designed specifically for this lamp, is adorned with finely detailed roots in a warm brown patina, enhanced by subtle green accents.

As a gardener, the apple was one of Tiffany’s favorite plants, providing beauty in the spring and sustenance in the fall. In 1875, Tiffany photographed his wife Mary Goddard Tiffany and daughter Mae Mae picking apple blossoms on the grounds of his father Charles’ eighteenth century Dutch farmhouse in Irvington, NY. As a matter of both aesthetic and sentimental significance, Tiffany lined Laurelton Hall’s private drive with a hundred yard esplanade of apple trees.
