Rembrandt Bugatti "Vautour, une aile déployée" Bronze Sculpture
Produced in 1913, Bugatti’s “Vautour, une aile déployée" also known as "Vulture, One Wing Spread” depicts the African White backed vulture with one wing raised and close to its chest. Rake like marks were left on the base, while large patches of plasticine demarcate the wings. The modeling is crisp and angular, with details pared down to accentuate the bird’s sleek, hard lines. The interplay of light and shadow enhances the sense of tension and movement, as if the bird is poised for flight, embodying an untamed energy.
