Neha Dani

Neha DaniNeha Dani was born in the mid-1970’s to a tradition-minded family, in town of Coimbatore, in the southern part of the Indian subcontinent. While growing up she traveled extensively with her parents and older sister, visiting both fine art museums and sites of natural wonders. These trips also exposed her to different cultures.

She spent a year studying at the Gemological Institute of America, in Southern California, and then continued her studies via a distance-learning course from the British Gem-A Institute. After Dani returned to India she joined the International Gemological Institue (IGI) at their laboratory in Mumbai. She began creating one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces in her Mumbai workshop. Initially these were made for family and friends. In 2014 Dani launched her own brand.

Neha Dani says her design ideas come from her observations of nature. She counts Fabergé and Rene Lalique as sources of inspiration. She builds three-dimensional wax models for her pieces in her Delhi workshop, then sends them to ateliers in Bangkok and Hong Kong that can realize her designs.

Each piece of Neha Dani jewelry is unique, as “An artist never paints the same picture twice.” She is known for using uncommon materials, including colored rhodium, water opals, Paraiba tourmalines, and pave-set diamonds in usual colors.

In 2017, Neha Dani was profiled in Juliet Weir de la Rochefoucauld’s book “Women Jewellery Designers.” She has also been featured in Vogue, VO+, Women’s Wear Daily and The New York Times. In 2019 Dani won the Fashion Group International’s “Rising Star Award.”

In North America, Neha Dani jewelry is available exclusively from Macklowe Gallery.
