A pair of American Estate 18 karat gold earrings with opal by Verdura. The earrings are composed of Cachalong opals with 18 karat gold wire and ball accents. The earrings are in a snail shell motif. "Cachalong opal is known for its porcelaneous milky-to-creamy white color and smooth, ceramic surface. Occasionally, this breed of opal occurs in reds and yellows, as well as banded form, but it's the all-whites—most of which come from Russian Federation states near the Caspian Sea—for which it's becoming known and increasingly prized."
