Ruser Mid-20th Century Diamond and Gold Bracelet

An American Mid-Century platinum, gold and diamond bracelet by Ruser. The Modernist motif bracelet has 20 unique diamond pave links that are individually hinged and further decorated with gold beading. There are 300 round-cut diamonds with an approximate total weight of 16.00 carats. William Ruser was a much sought after Beverly Hills jeweler with the Hollywood community and his pieces were worn by numerous film stars on and off-screen in the 1940's through the 1960's. The distinctive Ruser style involved skillfully sculpted children and pearl winged angels, often seated on clouds of freshwater pearls and crowned with halos of tiny seed pearls, as well as less whimsical jewelry. He closed the doors to his shop in 1969, whereupon the property was bought by Van Cleef and Arpels which remains in the same location on Rodeo Drive today.

The flexible bracelet has 35 graduated round-cut diamonds with an approximate total weight of 15.00 carats, 154 baguette diamonds with an approximate total weight of 17.40 carats, and a center round cut diamond with an approximate weight of 1.25 carats. Total approximate weight of the slightly graduated bracelet is 33.65 carats, G/H/I color, VS/SI clarity.

The flexible bracelet contains 178 baguette diamonds with an approximate total weight of 20.00 carats, centering on a square-cut diamond with an approximate total weight of 1.00 carat, and 98 round-cut diamonds with an approximate total weight of 9.50 carats. The approximate total weight of diamonds is 30.50 carats, G/H/I color, VS clarity. Similar bracelets are pictured in Les Bijoux Des Annees 50, by Melissa Gabardi, Les éditions de l'amateur, 1987, page 127, 131-132.

A French Mid-20th Century 18-karat gold bracelet with turquoise and diamonds by Van Cleef & Arpels. The bracelet has 30 cabochon turquoise stones, and 30 round-cut diamonds with an approximate total weight of 3.00 carats. The bracelet is from the 'Grain of Rice' collection. Pictured in Jewelry of the 1940's and 1950's, by Sylvie Raulet, Rizzoli International, 1987, p.129, Plate #2.

A French Mid-20th Century platinum, sapphire and diamond bracelet by Boucheron. The bracelet is made of alternating rows of round and oval cut blue sapphires with an approximate total weight of 16.45 carats, and baguette-cut diamonds with an approximate total weight of 16.65 carats, G/H color, VS clarity. Sapphires are untreated and no evidence of enhancement. The origin is Thailand and Cambodia (Pailin). American Gemological certificate #1092977
