Ben Macklowe Sits Down for Q&A with 6sqft

Editor Dana Schulz sits down for a Q&A with President, Ben Macklowe, to understand why he believes that the time is ripe for a new generation to start an antique collection.

According to Ben, the antiques market has undergone a major shift in recent years. He explains why antiques are sustainable by nature, lend themselves to cultural exploration, and, because of a generational shift, are more affordable than ever.

In addition to the state of the antiques market, Ben discusses Macklowe Gallery’s recent relocation to the new 6,000-square-foot space on Park Avenue at the southeast corner of 57th Street, after having been a fixture on Madison Avenue for nearly 50 years. Ben credits this exciting new opportunity to “our existing clients and a new generation of passionate collectors.”

Read more on why Ben describes collecting as “the intersection of passion, taste and happenstance" and his belief that through collecting “you will find yourself in different worlds" and expand your mind and your social universe.
