A German term used to describe a “total work of art” that use of a variety of art forms. The term can be used to describe certain buildings such as Victor Horta’s Hotel Solvay or Hector Guimard’s Castel Beranger in which both artists designed everything about the building, from construction to interior decoration, lighting, and other elements.
