In the arts “Classicism” experienced many periods of revival, most notably during the Renaissance when artists and intellectuals sought a return to the forms and ideals of the Ancient civilizations. The definition in its broadest sense is used to describe perfection of form, with an emphasis on harmony and unity of design and a restraint of emotion.
